This is that time of the year when there are awards and awards night .. Oscar, Bafta, Grammy and our very own Bolllywood awards. Live from the comforts of my couch, I got to watch the 57th Filmfare awards yesterday.
Began with the customary Red carpet - who wore what .. and then discussions on who was hot and who was not.
The anchors Shahrukh and Ranbir were a delight to watch. They were mostly spoofing each other's films. Must say, Shah Rukh is quite a sport. Loved the joke he made on his own home production Ra-1, where he brought all the Ra -1 merchandise to the stage including the cap, water bottle, G-1 panty and ended the act by saying the only thing he didn't see in Ra-1 were the tickets!!! I also liked the one where Ranbir asks Shah Rukh whether he noticed his different looks in Rockstar for which SRK quipped.. "Yes .. sad.. sadder, saddest"
Vidya Balan was clearly the Queen of the night scoring over the Khans and the Kapoors. Though her performance in 'No one killed Jessica' was just as good, she got accolades only for being 'Dirty' And she managed to get Shah Rukh and Ranbir get dirty as well. .. Chiffon Chameli and Leather Laxmi ( see pic)
Ranbir rocked by taking away both the Critics and the Popular award for best actor for Rockstar.. deservedly so. The Akhtar family collected a lot a awards too for Don 2 and ZNMD. Wonder whats with the women behind cameras.. why do they dress up so hideously? Am talking about Zoya here.. .. but remember Kiran Rao, another Khan's wife?
Deepika performed something more like a musical gymnastic .. Edgy and provocative. Kareena's dress seemed tacky and her tummy a little bumpy when she did her usual '2 left feet style dancing' . Priyanka was at ease and must give it to her for still staying on top with the younger lot, when her counterparts are busy nursing tiny tots.
Over all, films are about entertainment and so are the awards night expected to be .. entertaining.

cool... My interest in watching filmfare has now increased. I m going to watch it on internet :)
