Amar Singh, the cash-for-votes scam accused is the 6th MP to be lodged inside Tihar prison after Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, former telecom minister A Raja, sacked CWG OC Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and former Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav.
Also are the four heads of large business enterprises (Shahid Balwa, Vinod Goenka, Sanjay Chandra and Karim Morani) and four high-ranking corporate executives (Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara, Hari Nair and Sharad Kumar) who have been to Tihar.
All of them are crying that they are innocent till proven guilty. Though the prison life itself may not be humiliating, being imprisoned on corruption charges definitely is.
Tihar Jail had never had it this glamorous. So many influential people ...those who could virtually buy anything. They flew in their own planes and choppers, lived luxurious lives and used their power and influence to not just bend rules but to create their own.
This is their daily routine presently.
Breakfast - 5:30 am. Queue-style. Two slices of bread and a cup of tea.
Shower - By 9 am and lunch that has rotis, rice, dal and just one vegetable
Noon - Visitors time.
Post Lunch - Reading or watch TV in their cell
Tea time - At 3 pm. a cup of tea and two biscuits.
Dinner - Has to be collected by 6.00pm
Geez.. I would love to see them in Tihar. And I am sure I am not alone.. there will many more
Vicarious pleasure or just sadism?
May be the Government should seriously consider making a viewing gallery with entry fee or better still a customised mini bus with pop-up roof akin to Serengeti and Masai Mara. These are not endangered species.. they are dangerous specimen.

ReplyDeleteTourism Ministry in its campaign of Incredible India has put Tihar Jail and Chanchalguda Jails a must see places with Taj and Oberoi's serving delicious lunch both for Zuzus'(VIPs) and the tourists. With all these Very Important Prisoners on the increase they have requested the Home Ministry to identify more prisons so that they could beautify way in advance for the visiting tourists. Its time to buy stocks of hotels and airlines with large tourists inflow expected from across the world. Cheers! Old Monk

ReplyDeleteI guess Govt of India should nominate Tihar Jail from India as one of the wonders of the world.Iam sure it will attract lot of visitors from all over the world and this may help Govt ot recover atleast some amount against the loss.
